When Americans think of Thanksgiving, they think of turkeys, but not for the reasons one would hope. Over 46 million of these beautiful, intelligent, loving animals are killed each year for the Thanksgiving holiday alone. The harm caused to the environment, agricultural workers, and most of all turkeys has somehow become synonymous with a holiday celebrating all we are grateful for. Choose a compassionate Thanksgiving this year by enjoying a plant-based meal with your family, and sponsor a rescued turkey instead.
When you sponsor a turkey at Blackberry Creek, you contribute to their food, housing, medication, parasite prevention, and daily caretakers. You provide soft, deep bedding to take care of their delicate legs and feet which are overburdened by the large size of their bodies due to the selective breeding done to them for their unnatural size. You also help fund their necessary medical care throughout the year including check ups and surgeries (one surgery for a turkey costs between $3k-4k).
Our goal this year is to reach 150 turkey sponsorships to help provide daily care throughout the year for our feathered friends. We are so grateful for compassionate people like you who so generously support the lives of these sensitive, deserving animals.
