Over 46 million of these beautiful, intelligent, loving animals are killed each year for Thanksgiving alone. The harm caused to the environment, agricultural workers, and most of all turkeys, has somehow become synonymous with a holiday celebrating all we are grateful for. Choose a compassionate Thanksgiving this year by enjoying a plant-based meal with your family, and sponsor a rescued turkey instead.
How Does Your Gift Help Turkeys?
When you sponsor a turkey at Blackberry Creek, you contribute to their food, housing, medical care, parasite prevention, and daily care. You provide soft, deep bedding to take care of their delicate legs and feet which are overburdened by the large size of their bodies due to the selective breeding done to them by the meat industry to achieve their unnatural size. You also help fund necessary medical care throughout the year including check ups and surgeries (one lifesaving surgery for a turkey typically costs between $3-$4k).
